Sraith "Dronuilleoga Buí"
"Yellow rectangles" Series
This series was created in oil paint layering soft glazes of colour with textured drips, impasto and cracks. The titles are in the Irish language Gaeilge, an ancient language in revival. The visuals and linguistics of these pieces poetically guide interpretation towards noticing the literal and the absurd. They exist as a place to ponder and appreciate nuanced of being human.
D'fhiafraigh mé de mo bhrionglóid agus dúradh liom:
Is loighic í an ealaín teibí, bealach smaointeoireachta a shroicheann teachtaireachtaí doiléire
glossolalia.
Is bolcan i,
bean dhiaga ag damhsa i ngúna dearg, daoine ag snámh os cionn an bholcáin.
Is fuil snámhóra dícheannaithe í atá ag claochlú ina gruaig chríonna na ndaoine atá ar an
talamh.
Tá sé go maith duinn mar go dugann sé spás dúinn ár bhfeiceail ar fhiliocht rúndiamhair atá
scriofa le hord álainn loighciúil a chleachtadh. Déanann sé droichead idir ár dtaithí
chomhfhiosach agus fho-chomhfhiosach.
I asked my dream and it told me:
Abstract art is logic, a way of thinking reaching to obscurely written messages of glossolalia It is a volcano, a dancing divine woman in a red dress, people floating above the volcano.
It is blood of a decapitated floater transforming into the wise hair of those grounded. It is good for us as it gives us space to exercise our seeing of enigmatic poetry written with beautiful logical order. It bridges our conscious and subconscious experience.
